Why does the car height change after installing shock absorbers?

Release time:

2025-08-12

First, confirm the vehicle's ride height before installing the shock absorbers (measured from the wheel hub to the fender flare). Then, use this baseline measurement to estimate the ride height after installing the shock absorbers. Due to factors like mileage and age, the performance of the original shock absorbers can deteriorate, such as internal oil and air consumption, resulting in a certain degree of deviation in ride height from that of a new vehicle of the same model.

Therefore, if the ride height is higher after replacing the shock absorbers, as long as it's not abnormal (more than 2cm), it's considered normal. Furthermore, if the ride height is abnormal after replacing the shock absorbers, first confirm that the suspension springs are properly installed, or if the springs are installed upside down, such as if they're reversed.
