Multiple reports of Beijing Benz "shock absorber fracture" incidents have surfaced online, but the manufacturer has yet to release an official explanation or solution for this issue. With the increasing number of complaints and numerous fracture incidents, the China Auto Quality Network has officially issued a notice soliciting quality complaints from users regarding the Beijing Benz E-Class.

Recently, the China Auto Quality Network, under the State Administration for Market Regulation, issued a notice soliciting complaints from owners regarding shock absorber deformation and fracture in some Beijing Benz E-Class vehicles.

This information will provide leads for the relevant departments of the State Administration for Market Regulation to investigate vehicle defects. Once confirmed, the Administration may initiate an investigation and recall.

We understand that the most recent incident of a Beijing Benz E-Class shock absorber fracture occurred on January 11th of this year. The owner complained that his Mercedes-Benz E200L, just five months old, had been driving normally when it broke down after passing two speed bumps. He stated that the car was not traveling at a high speed at the time. The car was towed to a 4S dealership for inspection, where it was discovered that the shock absorber had broken and the oil had completely leaked.

After learning of the severity of the problem, the owner demanded an explanation from Beijing Benz and a vehicle return. However, the owner reported that the manufacturer has yet to respond. The owner believes this practice is seriously inconsistent with the Mercedes-Benz brand image and is disappointed.

Sudden shock absorber fracture can, in serious cases, result in fatal accidents, endangering the owner's life. We have previously reported on numerous incidents of shock absorber fracture in Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles.

Mr. Zhang, a car owner from Jiangsu, had owned a Mercedes-Benz E300 for a year and a half. On July 18, he was driving alone on the Shenhai Expressway when he suddenly heard a strange noise and the vehicle tilted to the right. He was traveling at a high speed on the highway, but fortunately, he reacted quickly and steadied the steering wheel to prevent the vehicle from losing control, which would have been disastrous. After pulling over, the owner got out to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the right front shock absorber had broken and the front of the vehicle had collapsed. The vehicle was towed to the Mercedes-Benz 4S dealership in Lianyungang, where inspection confirmed the cause of the problem was a broken shock absorber. However, after-sales personnel responded, "External force cannot be ruled out." Frustrated with the unresolved issue and the various delays and evasions by the manufacturer and the 4S dealership, Mr. Zhang complained to the national 12315 online service.

We discovered that the unexplained front shock absorber fractures in Beijing Benz E-Class sedans are not isolated incidents, with numerous reports of shock absorber fractures being reported online.

Since these incidents have occurred repeatedly and have persisted for some time, some Mercedes-Benz owners, fearing a potential incident, have fabricated a special reinforcement to thicken and reinforce the thin U-shaped lower stays, preventing them from fracturing easily at the shock absorber connection.

In fact, automotive industry experts have previously published analysis suggesting this is a design-induced defect.

The repeated occurrence of shock absorber fractures in Beijing Benz E-Class sedans makes it difficult to accept the blanket explanation that the cause was external force. The China Automobile Quality Network is soliciting complaints regarding deformation and breakage of shock absorbers in Beijing Benz E-Class vehicles. Owners are encouraged to submit complaints through this channel. The State Administration for Market Regulation also offers a complaint channel on its official website.

We hope the manufacturer will thoroughly investigate and analyze this issue, and that relevant government regulatory agencies will step in to provide consumers with an explanation.
